BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Parts of central Alabama were under a flash flood warning this morning as heavy rain continued to pelt the state's midsection.
The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for all or parts of the following counties: Bibb, Calhoun, Choctaw, Clarke, Clay, Cleburne, Conecuh, Fayette, Hale, Jefferson, Jefferson, Lamar, and Monroe.
Some roads in Birmingham became impassable due to heavy rainfall. WBMA-TV video showed firefighters helping a motorist stranded in about two feet of water shortly after midnight Monday morning.
A number of schools in the rain-drenched areas delayed openings Monday morning.
