UTC men fifth after first day at Southern Conference golf championship

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's golf team is four shots off the lead and in fifth place after the first day of play at the Southern Conference Championship.

The Mocs shot 9-over-par 297 on Sunday at the National Golf Club, one shot behind Furman and Georgia Southern and within striking distance of co-leaders Davidson and Western Carolina at 294.

Liam Johnston leds the Mocs individually with a 1-over 73 to tie for seventh place, and Chris Robb and Ewan Scott are one shot back and tied for 13th.
