Energy Secretary Moniz to deliver UT lecture

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - U.S. Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz is coming to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, to deliver the Baker Distinguished Lecture on Energy and the Environment.

According to the school, today's lecture will focus on the Department of Energy and its activities in Tennessee.

The Energy Department's primary presence in Tennessee is the Oak Ridge Reservation in Anderson and Roane counties. The reservation includes the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the East Tennessee Technology Park and the Y-12 National Security Complex.

The Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy is currently preparing an analysis of the Energy Department's economic benefits for Tennessee. It will be released later this spring.

UT Chancellor Jimmy Cheek said the Baker Center is establishing itself as a think tank for energy and environmental policy.
