Police arrest fugitive in 2010 slaying in Tennessee

CROSSVILLE, Tenn. - A man being sought in a 2010 slaying has been arrested at a Crossville motel and police say he had been working in construction in the area.

The U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force, Nashville police and Crossville police found 27-year-old Juan Diego Vargas on Wednesday night at a Motel 6 on U.S. Highway 127.

Officers say Vargas is wanted in the March 2010 slaying of 27-year-old Santos Cordova Reyes at a bar.

Police say Vargas and his brother, Adolfo Vargas Jr., were involved in the slaying. Adolfo Vargas has been convicted of accessory and received a probated sentence. Police say he drove his brother away from the scene.

Juan Vargas is being held in the Nashville jail in lieu of $2.75 million bond. Jail records did not list an attorney.
