University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football coach Russ Huesman veered from his practice plan this morning adding in-practice conditioning.

"We had a little melee so I ran then during practice and after practice," Huesman said. "I don't mind if two guys get in a scuffle.

"But it turned into a mini-melee and there were other people involved and then they're all out of the game."

The Mocs are scheduled to practice again this evening.

They're also slated to hold an open scrimmage on Saturday at 2:30 in Finley Stadium.

Huesman is looking for three important things:

-"There's eight to 10 guys either young or inexperienced guys who we need to see play well and make plays," he said.

-"I'd like to see it crisp, stay away from turnovers and penalties," he said.

-"There are guys who we have to figure out if they're in the two deep, or if other guys are starters," he said.

UTC avoided major injuries in the morning session.

"Little groin, tired a little hammy - it's what camp is," Huesman said. "Every time you turn around somebody new has something wrapped."
