Crowd gathers in Atlanta to protest Missouri shooting

ATLANTA - Hundreds of demonstrators gathered in downtown Atlanta to protest the shooting of Michael Brown, an unarmed man who was fatally shot by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri.

Protesters gathered outside the CNN Center and marched through downtown Atlanta Monday evening chanting and holding signs calling for answers in 18-year-old Brown's death.

An independent autopsy by a pathologist hired by Brown's family said he had been shot six times including twice in his head, but the circumstances that led to the shooting are unclear. Police and witnesses have given conflicting accounts of the incident.

Brown's shooting led to a series of tense protests in Ferguson that were met by responses from police that have been criticized as being militaristic.
