A day after terror cell ISIS released a video claiming to show the beheading of U.S. journalist James Foley, U.S. Sen. Bob Corker today said conflicts in Iraq and Syria have been poorly handled, and President Barack Obama needs to develop a "clear objective" in the Middle East.
During an interview, Corker said he believes U.S. humanitarian aid in the region should continue, but the U.S. should also offer air support to the Iraqi military in the form of airstrikes and drone attacks.
But he stopped short of saying American troops should be re-deployed to the region. He said the "best case scenario" is the Iraqi military and Kurd forces would band together and fight off invading forces form Syria, which he said has become "a magnet of jihadists."
