The Dalton Police Department is investigating a stabbing attack an possible attempted robbery that occurred this morning on Underwood Circle, a news release states.
The victim, who is expected to recover, told police that he was talking on the phone while sitting outside his apartment at 428 Underwood Circle at about 12:20 a.m. when he saw two males wearing hooded sweatshirts with the hoods up walking on the road. The victim told investigators that he told his friend on the phone that the two looked suspicious and that he thought they might have heard him say that. He told investigators that the two males turned around after a minute or two and rushed him, saying, "Give it up! Give it up!" The men kicked and beat the victim and stabbed and cut him several times with a knife.
The victim suffered three stabbing lacerations to his torso and also two lacerations to his arms and one on the right side of his head. He told investigators the attackers also claimed they had a gun.
While the attack took place the victim's friend, who was still on the phone, called 911. Officers responding were unable to locate the attackers, who ran in the direction of Red Clay Avenue.
The victim told investigators that he believed based on their accents that the attackers were Hispanic teenagers standing between 5'7 and 5'8 in height with slim builds. Both were wearing black hooded sweatshirts, he told police.
