Ex-Sequoyah firefighter charged with stealing county gas

A former volunteer with Sequoyah Volunteer Fire Department/Marine Rescue has been charged with stealing fuel from Hamilton County gas pumps.

Sheriff's department spokeswoman Janice Atkinson said Christopher M. Harp is charged with theft under $500 and more charges may follow.

Investigators said Harp put county gas in his privately owned vehicle on Aug. 2.

She said the sheriff's office, with the cooperation of the Sequoyah department, has been investigating fuel expense overages from the county's pumps at 1110 Dayton Blvd.
