NASHVILLE - Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Gordon Ball has named the leadership of his campaign team for his challenge to Republican incumbent Lamar Alexander.

Ball, who narrowly defeated fellow Knoxville attorney Terry Adams in this month's primary, named his former opponent to head his East Tennessee leadership team alongside state Rep. Joe Armstrong.

Businessman Bill Freeman and Nashville Councilman Jerry Maynard will head up Ball's team in Middle Tennessee, while state House Minority Leader Craig Fitzhugh and state Democratic Party secretary Gale Jones Carson will do the same for West Tennessee.

Ball has acknowledged appearing on a list of Democrats who once supported Alexander's previous Senate bids, but he has since called that decision "a huge mistake."
