Man arrested after fleeing Calhoun, Ga., traffic stop

Police in Calhoun, Ga., arrested Derek Montae Bennett, 34, after he refused to stop at a traffic stop and led officers on a brief pursuit Tuesday morning.

According to a police department news release, Bennett lost control of his vehicle, then jumped out and ran but was quickly apprehended by officers.

Bennett faces charges of fleeing and attempting to elude, possessing of a controlled substance with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of marijuana over an ounce and obstruction of a police officer, according to the release.

Bennett remains in the Gordon County Jail with further charges pending.
