CHATSWORTH, Ga. - When the school year starts here next week, students will have some grieving to do for three classmates who died and one who was critically injured in a freak accident Thursday that killed a man mowing grass on Old CCC Camp Road outside the community of Eton.

"This is affecting three different schools," Murray County Sheriff's Department Maj. Greg Fowler said.

The four teens went to three schools: Murray County High, North Murray High and Mountain Creek Academy, he said.

"It's a close-knit county," Fowler said. "This a tragedy that's affected the county. We're growing, but people still know who's who."

A few more details were available Friday morning, but the Georgia Highway Patrol still hadn't released the crash report, Fowler said.

A 17-year-old boy, River Sosebee, was driving a 2006 Nissan Titan pickup when he lost control going around a curve. He went off the road and hit lawnmower driver Bryan Bartly, 57, killing him.

Sosebee died, as did backseat passengers Joshua Roberts, 17, and Chelsie Hullender, 18.

An 18-year-old girl in the four-door pickup truck was airlifted in critical condition to Erlanger hospital in Chattanooga.
