CNE moves to Chestnut Street

Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise, a local organization dedicated to "building a better Chattanooga," has moved into a new space that representatives hope will allow for better results.

"It used to be so segmented out," Communications and Special Projects Manager Jennifer Holder said in regards to the former offices of the 26-year-old organization next to Urban Stack, "but now we have room to collaborate. The offices are about the same size, but instead of everyone having different offices, we have an open space with cubicles."

The nonprofit housing organization has moved to 1500 Chestnut St., at the corner of Main and Chestnut streets catty-corner to T-Bones.

Holder said CNE is happy to be even deeper in the flourishing neighborhood.

"We've been operating since 1986, and some of our first projects were on Read and Mitchell Avenue," she said. "We think it will be so good for us and for the neighborhood."

As the company moves forward with development projects in Highland Park, CNE President CEO Martina Guilfoil said the move will make the organization stronger and more effective.

"We love our new space because it's allowing us to form this large collaborative space, but also allows us to invest and care in a neighborhood we've cared about for so long," said Guilfoil. "We think that this will open the door for more work in more neighborhoods."
