The Chattanooga Police Department has identified the man who was shot in the head at 2411 Stuart Street late Sunday night.

Paul Brian Rector, 38, was allegedly shot by Amy Lynn Bates, 29, who appeared in sessions court this morning.

Police say Bates shot Rector in the head and woke up her housemates to tell them they needed to burn the house down. The housemates found flames and Rector's dead body in the room where Bates was staying.

They called police, and Bates ran out the back door. She was quickly arrested and charged with criminal homicide, unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm in commission of a felony.

She appeared before Judge Gary Starnes in a pink jumpsuit Tuesday morning, and her case was moved to Jan. 6. at her attorney's request.
