District Attorney General Neal Pinkston put a new focus on an 17-year-old cold case today by asking Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam to offer a money reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case.

Pinkston said investigators have unearthed new leads in the case of Sean and Donny Goetcheus, two brothers who were shot execution-style in their Brainerd home in January 1997.

"Significant progress has been achieved towards identifying the person and or persons responsible for these murders," Pinkston wrote in an email to the governor's office. "I believe an offer of adequate reward money would encourage further witnesses to come forward with information that could help solve these murders."

Pinkston created a new cold case division to work on homicide cases in Hamilton County in October.
