UTC Mocs hold on to defeat Northern Kentucky 93-81

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's basketball team built as much as a 20-point lead in the second half, but had to hold on to defeat Northern Kentucky 93-81 Tuesday in front of 2,361 fans at McKenzie Arena.

The Mocs (6-5), who travel to Middle Tennessee State University on Friday, were led by a career-high 24 points from Greg Pryor. Ronrico White added 20 to go along with a team-high five assists. As a team, UTC shot 63 percent from the field and 50 percent (13-for-26) from 3-point range.

They led 80-60 with 8:48 remaining, but led by freshman Tayler Persons, the Norse (4-6) fought back, cutting the lead to nine on a 3-point play with 1:16 to go. He had a career-high 30 points to lead Northern Kentucky, but the Mocs' Pryor and White combined to hit 7-for-10 free throws down the stretch for the win.
