Dallas Bay firefighters keep house, tree, presents from going up in flames Christmas Eve

Dallas Bay firefighters work quickly to extinguish a house fire Wednesday morning and save the Christmas tree and presents, according to a Hamilton County Emergency official.

At 5:30 a.m., the Rankin family awoke to their smoke alarm and found smoke and fire in the living room. They immediately evacuated the house and called 911.

Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department responded to 501 Roberts Mill Road where they found heavy smoke and fire appearing at the front the house. Firefighters quickly entered the home and extinguished the fire in the living room.

Dallas Bay VFD Chief Markus Fritts reported the cause of the fire was an electrical short in the living room. Damages listed at $15,000.

No injuries were reported but Hamilton County EMS was on the scene for any potential injuries to firefighters. The Rankin family was insured and will be staying with Family.
