A few flakes of snow might fall, but it's mostly going to be a wet Christmas in Southeast Tennessee and North Georgia.

Thunderstorms, heavy rain and possible flooding are on the way today, the National Weather Service said.

Rain and scattered storms are expected ahead of a strong cold front, with the strongest risk for severe storms in the afternoon.

A flood watch is in effect for most of north and central Georgia through 8 p.m., with as much as 2 to 4 inches of rain. Flooding is possible in low-lying and poorly drained areas, the weather service said.

A few snow flurries are possible late tonight and into Christmas morning, but there's little chance of accumulation.
