A group opposed to the United Auto Workers' organizing effort at Volkswagen's Chattanooga plant is putting up 11 more billboards in the Chattanooga area.

The Center for Worker Freedom is placing the billboards, which show a blighted plant with the wording "Detroit. Brought to You by the UAW."

Earlier this week, the Washington, D.C.-based group, which is affiliated with Grover Norquist's Americans for Tax Reform, put up a couple of other anti-UAW billboards in the city.

Matt Patterson, the center's chief, said his organization is stepping up efforts "to warn the residents of Chattanooga about the terrible economic legacy and the left wing political nature of the United Auto Workers...."

Volkswagen filed a petition with the National Labor Relations Board earlier this week for an election at the plant Feb. 12-14 to determine if workers want the UAW to represent them in collective bargaining.

The UAW has said it wants to partner with VW and establish a German-style works council at the plant and "set up a new standard in the U.S."
