A pedestrian identified by the Chattanooga Police Department as Elizabeth Thomas is in critical condition in a local hospital after being struck at 5522 Highway 58 Monday night.
Police said it was reported to a traffic investigator that Thomas tried to cross the highway on foot when she was hit by a motorist who couldn't avoid her.
Police said no charges are pending at this time.
