Casey Scoggins, a manager of transmission engineering for the Tennessee Valley Authority in Chattanooga, is this year's TVA Engineer of the Year.
Scoggins, who said he has wanted to be a civil engineer since he was in the 6th grade, was recognized today by the TVA board with the annual Ike Zeringue Engineer of the Year honor. He is one of 10 engineers who will compete for Federal Engineer of the Year.
Scoggins is responsible for supervising teams that handle power transmission system expansion projects, equipment replacements and storm restoration projects. He is a certified professional engineer and holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Tennessee Tech University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga.
"TVA's mission is about improving the quality of life in the Tennessee Valley and our ability to do that depends on the dedication of employees like Casey," TVA President Bill Johnson said. "Beyond his own hard work, his leadership in our Transmission organization has directly contributed to TVA maintaining a 99.999 percent reliability factor since 2000."
