The Krystal fast-food chain has announced its "Square off for Square Meals" competition is set to be held Wednesday at noon at the Heritage Plaza at UTC.

Krystal said its event is being held in conjunction with UTC's "I Love UTC Week," a weeklong event to celebrate students, alumni and friends.

Krystal said to prepare for the event, students need to raise "three square meals" through a food drive on campus.

Krystal said the competition will feature three rounds with the first being a sorority competition, followed by one of fraternities and then concluding with a general student body competition.

Each round will test the contestants to see who can eat 6 Krystals in the least amount of time, Krystal said.

"The Krystal Square Off was very popular in the early 2000's, and the students and faculty at UTC really wanted to bring it back as a Chattanooga tradition for their student week," Julie Stark, field marketing manager of Krystal, said. "We are always looking for ways to be engaged and involved with Krystal Lovers throughout the region, and we are thrilled to take part in an important tradition for our brand's hometown."
