3 plead guilty to abusing disabled AL woman

GADSDEN, Ala. - Prosecutors say three people accused of repeatedly raping a developmentally disabled woman who was being held against her will have pleaded guilty.

Etowah County District Attorney's officials say 54-year-old Rex Maurice Johnson and his 43-year-old wife, Toni Renea Johnson, entered their pleas Tuesday along with 28-year-old Steven William Holder.

Investigators have said the 23-year-old victim was found naked and handcuffed to a bed inside the Johnsons' home when police responded to call to their address. Authorities say Holder also lived with the Johnsons and identified himself as the victim's boyfriend.

Prosecutors say the woman told investigators that the three had repeatedly abused her and physical evidence corroborated her statement.

The Johnsons were charged with rape, sodomy and sexual torture. Holder was charged with assault, sexual misconduct and domestic violence.
