6 slated for Alabama Music Hall of Fame

FLORENCE, Ala. - Six people are scheduled for induction into the Alabama Music Hall of Fame during a ceremony in Florence.

Set for induction tonight are country artist Hank Locklin, jazz musician Sun Ra, music producer Charlie Monk, singer Candi Staton, and songwriters and musicians Spooner Oldham and Dan Penn. Florence resident John Paul White of the Civil Wars will emcee the event, and Gov. Robert Bentley is scheduled to speak.

The Legislature created the Alabama Music Hall of Fame in 1980 to celebrate the state's achievements in all types of music.
