Murfreesboro police identifies man killed in single-car crash, says fifth passenger missing

Murfreesboro police have identified the man killed in a New Year's morning crash on Rutherford Boulevard.

Police said Robert S. Cook, 22, of Burns, was sitting in the left rear of a 2001 Chevrolet Impala when it flew off Rutherford Boulevard, hit the center median and then careened into a utility pole on the side of the road. Cook died at the scene.

They identified the driver as Sheila Holmes, 30, of Murfreesboro. She and another passenger were rushed to Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital with minor injuries. Another passenger was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with serious injuries.
