Newlywed Georgia bride killed in crash after reception

BALL GROUND, Ga. - Georgia State Patrol officials say a newlywed bride was killed in a crash hours after her wedding reception in north Georgia.

State patrol officials told WSB-TV that Kali Dobson was thrown from a car Sunday night in Ball Ground after the car she and her husband were riding in rolled into an embankment.

A neighbor, Chris Thomas, says the groom was stumbling up the road with a bloodied, torn shirt after the crash. Thomas says he called 911 and tried comforting the man with a prayer while they waited for emergency responders to arrive.

Investigators have said the groom told them he swerved to miss a dog that ran into the road. Authorities say they'll conduct a blood test to determine whether any charges will be filed.
