Apparent dog attack kills 1, injures 2 in Houston

HOUSTON - One woman has died and two people were injured in southeast Houston from an apparent pit bull attack.

The Houston Chronicle reports the trio were attacked around 2 a.m. Sunday by at least two female pit bulls. Houston Animal Control estimates that the dogs are about 1-year-old and 30 pounds.

A 40-year-old woman thought to be homeless died of multiple wounds. Another woman was hospitalized.

A man also suffered minor injuries. He said it wasn't clear if the woman was already dead when the dog attacked her body, or if it killed her.

Who own the dogs is unknown. Several nearby homes have "Beware of dog" sings.

Authorities have located one of the dogs involved in the attack, but are still looking for at least one other pit bull.
