Chattanooga police and Crime Stoppers are seeking the identity of a woman suspected of attempting to resell stolen jewelry to the original owner.

According to Crime Stoppers, in late November a woman entered Southern Gold, at 5307 Brainerd Road, and attempted to sell pieces of jewelry. The employee behind the counter recognized the jewelry as her own "custom-made pieces" and called police. The suspect fled, but was recorded on the shop's security video.

A police investigation at the victim's home found the front door had been forced open, with more than $2,000 in jewelry and electronics stolen.

The suspect is a medium- to heavy-build African-American female, weighing about 160 pounds and around 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall.

Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect or the burglary is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 423-698-3333.
