Ricardo Jones watches.Attorneys with Miller & Martin visited with staff and children at Carver Community Center on Tuesday to observe the impact of the law firm's donation to the Lexia Reading Program.
"Our firm decided to invest in areas that would make a lasting impact on our community," Miller & Martin Chairman Jim Haley said in a news release. "When we heard about the Lexia Reading Program, we met with program administrators and determined this effort would be a perfect fit."
Haley said more than 350 children have completed 36,356 lesson units over the last six months.
"We would like to encourage other businesses to join us in supporting these efforts," he said in the release.
Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke praised Miller & Martin's investment in the city's youth.
"Developing strong reading skills can transform the lives of our young people," Berke said in the news release.
The reading program is administered through Chattanooga's Department of Youth & Family Development.
