The Dalton Police Department is looking for two men who apparently tried to rob a grocery store Sunday.
According to a news release, the two men showed up at the Carniceria Nacho (located at 616 Fourth Ave.) around 4:45 p.m. They told everyone inside to get on the floor and one of the robbers pointed a gun at the store's clerk, demanding money. The other man pulled at the register, but it was locked.
The store's employees locked themselves in an office, according to the release, and the robbers left after failing to pop the register open.
Witnesses say the men left in a blue, 1970s-era "muscle car" with a black top. Police say it might be Chevrolet Nova or a Ford Mustang. Either way, witnesses say, the car is in bad condition. When the robbers tried to leave, they had to try to start the car several times before it began running.
The men headed north on Third Street, according to the release, but officers could not find them. Witnesses say the men were in their late 20s or early 30s.
According to the release, one of the robbers is Hispanic, about 5 feet, 5 inches and 160 pounds. He wore a dark jacket and a hoodie.
The other robber, according to the release, is black, about 6 feet, 2 inches and 230 pounds. His head is bald, and on Sunday he wore a dark hoodie, a white shirt and blue jeans.
