University of Georgia police probing death of student found in dorm

ATHENS, Ga. - University of Georgia police are investigating the death of a student whose body was found in his dormitory room.

Authorities say the student was found dead in his fifth-floor room in Vandiver Hall Tuesday night. Police say there are no obvious signs of foul play, but added that it's too early to know the cause of death. An autopsy is planned at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's lab.

UGA Police Chief Jimmy Williamson says police were notified Tuesday evening after fellow students had some concerns about his welfare and contacted UGA housing officials.

The 21-year-old student's name hasn't been released.
