Alabama State: Dorm rape case involves 5 suspects

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Alabama State University is investigating reports that a woman was raped by several men in a campus dorm.

Henry Davis, director of the school's public safety department, says that five suspects are involved in the case.

WSFA-TV reports that the alleged crime occurred on Nov. 1 in Card Hall.

Davis says the suspects were taken into custody, but never formally charged with any crimes. The Montgomery station says the university initially refused to provide reports about the case but later discussed some aspects of its investigation.

Davis said university officials didn't inform students about the case at the time because "it was an after the matter fact" and he said there was no danger.
