Jackson County sheriff searching for inmate

A jail inmate in Jackson County, Ala., is at large this evening after walking away from a work detail, according to a news release.

Nathan Thomas Clark was working with the Stevenson Parks and Recreation Department at Stevenson City Park on Tuesday afternoon and failed to return to the jail at 3:30 p.m. CDT, Chief Deputy Rocky Harnen said in the release.

A search ensued but Clark wasn't found. An arrest warrant has been issued charging Clark with second-degree escape.

Clark, 38, is white, 6 feet tall and around 165 pounds, with brown hair and eyes. He was wearing orange jail clothing.

Harnen said Clark is not considered dangerous but should not be approached. Anyone who sees him is asked to call he Jackson County Sheriff's Office or the local police department.
