Chattanooga slaying victim was a truck driver

The man found dead in the gravel parking lot of a doctor's office near Signal Mountain Road on June 27 was a truck driver from Louisville, Miss., according to a funeral home there.

An obituary for 49-year-old Wesley Alvin Eaves posted on the Porter Funeral Home website said Eaves died June 25 in Chattanooga and also identified him as a husband and father of one.

His body was discovered by police about 6:45 a.m. on June 27 after a person called police and reported a suspicious object that turned out to be the body.

Police have not released the cause of Eaves' death but are investigating it as a homicide and said the death is not related to a rash of shootings, two of them fatal, that Chattanooga police worked that week.

Authorities released his name for the first time Thursday.

A funeral service for Eaves is scheduled for today at 9 a.m. at Zion Chapel Pentecostal Church in Louisville, Miss., according to the obituary.
