3 officers, male suspect burned in fiery confrontation in Texas

CEDAR HILL, Texas - Police say a man armed with a bottle of flammable liquid set himself and a police officer ablaze before another officer shot him in a suburban Dallas shopping strip.

Three officers were burned with the suspect at a Cedar Hill chicken wing shop, with one being airlifted to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. City spokesman Corky Brown says the suspect also was taken to Parkland.

Police say the man was suspected in a nearby burglary when officers pursued him into the wing shop and tried to subdue him. Lt. Charles Reiss said the suspect, who reeked of gasoline, was able to set himself and the officer on fire. Other officers tried to smother the flames. One officer eventually shot the man in the parking lot.

No conditions were available.
