Chattanooga fire investigators have arrested a man in connection with a duplex fire on July 5 in Chattanooga.

The suspect, 20-year-old Terry Slaughter, was seen driving on a city street this afternoon and apprehended, said Capt. Anthony Moore.

Slaughter is suspected of starting a fire in the back bedroom of a duplex located at 1422 Bradt Street. Chattanooga firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly and no one was injured. The dollar loss was estimated at around $39,000.

The charge was upgraded to aggravated arson because the fire endangered the life of the resident living on the other side of the duplex.
