Nathan Deal, though the Republican incumbent still has more cash in the bank.
Reports filed Tuesday evening show Deal raised $1.27 million in the three-month period ending June 30. Carter's total for the quarter was $2.02 million - outpacing the sitting governor by nearly $747,000.
Deal still ended the quarter with the overall cash advantage. He reported nearly $2.62 million cash on hand at the end of June - putting him more than $797,000 ahead of Carter's bank balance of $1.82 million.
With nearly four months to go until the Nov. 4 election, Deal has raised $9.31 million overall for race, compared to Carter's total of $3.88 million.
