Chattanooga Police Chief Fred Fletcher has named David Roddy to be his assistant chief and chief of staff.

In a news release, Fletcher said Roddy "has served the men and women of this community and this department with honor, integrity and courage" for almost 20 years.

"I am absolutely confident in his ability to run the day-to-day operations of the Chattanooga Police Department and to serve and lead the CPD as we work to keep our community safe," Fletcher said.

Roddy has been a member of the Chattanooga Police Department since 1995. He has held a variety of positions, including patrol supervisor, street crimes investigator, gang investigator, special operations commander, SWAT commander, patrol sector commander, and, most recently, internal affairs commander.

Roddy graduated from Tyner High School and received bachelor of science degree in criminal justice administration from Middle Tennessee State University. He also graduated from the FBI National Academy Session 235 and from the Leadership Chattanooga program in 2011.

"I thank him for accepting this challenge and I thank his wonderful family for sharing him with us and supporting him through this new challenge," Fletcher said.
