City Council will vote Tuesday on whether to award Hope for the Inner City with the contract to run the community side of Mayor Andy Berke's violence reduction plan to reduce shootings and killings in Chattanooga.

Hope for the Inner City, which is already receiving $75,000 in city funding will be awarded another $290,000 if the council approves the contract to run the social service side of Chattanooga's Violence Reduction Initiative.

The director of Hope for the Inner City is Paul Green.

The nonprofit was chosen from four other local organizations after the city rebid the contract in June when Richard Bennett, director of A Better Tomorrow, was arrested.
