NASHVILLE - U.S. Rep. Scott DesJarlais is up with his first television ad, a 30-second spot that touts his conservative record and slams his GOP primary challenger, state Sen. Jim Tracy, as a supporter of Common Core education standards who "tried to make gas taxes automatic."

The move comes as the congressman filed his second quarter campaign finance disclosure with the Federal Election Commission campaign disclosure.

DesJarlais is considered one of the most vulnerable incumbents in Congress as a result of revelations during and after his 2012 campaign that included having had an affair with a patient and later encouraged her to obtain an abortion.

The revelations stemmed from documents and testimony stemming from DesJarlais' 2000 divorce from his first wife. He later remarried.

Last week, Tracy hit DesJarlais with a mass mailing in which he raised those and other issues.
