With his dreadlocks tucked back, A.J. Johnson embraced the gameplan for today.

"I'm ready to enjoy this day," the Tennessee senior linebacker said. "I'm ready to talk."

Johnson, lineman Mack Crowder, defensive end Curt Maggitt and second-year UT coach Butch Jones were in Hoover, Ala., on Tuesday for SEC media days, preparing for the afternoon session with hundreds of members of the media.

Jones, who has become known for a few of his favored catch phrases, was in full voice with selected members of the media that cover the Vols.

"This league is unforgiving," Jones said before adding that Auburn's run from worst to first in the SEC last year, "shows you anything is possible."

Among the items addressed in Jones' early session included:

• UT receiver Pig Howard has continued to make strides to get re-instated.

• Jones has been encouraged by all three quarterbacks - Justin Worley, Josh Dobbs and Nathan Peterman - vying for the starting job. None of the trio is in Hoover.
