Reports of potential drug activity made to the DeKalb County Sheriff's office on July 17 led to the arrest of a DeKalb County, Ala. woman.

Sherry Denise Gravitt, 37, was arrested at her residence on County Road 9049 in Valley Head, according to a news release. DeKalb County deputies and Alabama state troopers obtained consent to search her residence and found a meth lab and materials to make meth, the release stated. The drug task force and state Human Resources workers were called to the residence because of the presence of a small child and other people.

"This arrest was made possible because of all the reports of drug activity from concerned citizens," Sheriff Jimmy Harris said in the release.

Gravitt was charged with second-degree manufacture of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. She was taken to the DeKalb County Detention Center and is awaiting a bond hearing.

The child was placed with a family member, Harris said.
