NASHVILLE - A super PAC has just pumped $193,000 into Tennessee's 3rd Congressional District GOP primary race, mostly for television for ads backing Weston Wamp in his challenge to incumbent U.S. Rep. Chuck Fleischmann, R-Tenn., new filings show.

The Character Counts Political Action Committee, which is funded solely by one of Wamp's bosses at the Lamp Post Group where Wamp works, reported its independent expenditure today to the Federal Election Commission.

The super PAC stated it spent $171,967 Monday for a media buy in the 3rd District, which includes the Chattanooga and Knoxville television markets.

Another $20,825 was paid on Friday to JDA Frontline, a Washington, D.C.-based communications firm, for ad production. JDA's principals include Kevin Madden, a senior adviser to Republican Mitt Romney's 2012 presidential campaign.

This is the second independent expenditure by the group. Earlier this month, the Times Free Press previously reported the super PAC spent $93,252 on a television buy and another $18,325 for ad production.

Character Counts is being funded entirely by Allan Davis, a Lamp Post founder.
