A 24-year-old man was arrested Wednesday and charged with criminal impersonation and unlawful use of blue lights after Chattanooga police found him sitting in a black Ford Explorer on the side of Interstate 75, acting like he was running radar on passing drivers.

Andrew Hammonds' vehicle was equipped with a working siren and blue lights. When asked by police why he was parked perpendicular to traffic and not moving, he said his SUV had broken down and he'd just happened to stop that way.

Hammonds faces several charges including impersonation of a licensed professional and having an expired registration.
