The Hamilton County Commission has done its part to change the way Erlanger Hospital is governed.

The seven present commissioners today approved a resolution today amending the private act that established the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Hospital Authority. And Commissioner Tim Boyd, who was absent, wrote a letter in support of the resolution.

The amendment will shrink the hospital's board of trustees from 12 to 11 members. And change the appointment process for board members.

Under the amendment, the county mayor will get six appointments. And the county's legislative delegation will get four appointments. Erlanger hospital's chief of staff will also serve as a trustee.

Commissioner Warren Mackey was also absent.
