NASHVILLE - Knoxville attorney Gordon Ball says he plans to amp up his bid for Democrats' U.S. Senate nomination on June 30 with a largely self-funded $300,000 to $400,000 television ad buy that covers most of Tennessee.
However, Chattanoogans likely won't see the ads - at least initially. Ball told reporters today the ad buy is in the Knoxville, Nashville and Memphis media markets.
"I'm not going to run them in Chattanooga," Ball said, noting Hamilton County accounts for just 7 percent of the statewide Democratic electorate.
He later amended that to say, "I don't have plans to do it right now ... I may still run them in Chattanooga at some point."
In response to questions, Ball, a successful trial lawyers who's won multiple national class-action lawsuits, estimated his personal net worth at $10 million to $20 million. He said he's raised about $50,000 so far from contributors.
