An undeveloped part of Soddy-Daisy will be permanently preserved in its natural state.

A 285-acre tract known as "The Gulf" off the Back Valley Road exit was offered to the city at a third of its value.

Commissioners voted yes, Thursday night. Many of them enjoyed the area in their youth. It includes mountain vistas, woodlands, and Big Soddy Creek. At just over a million dollars cost to taxpayers, the land will be used as parks and reserves.
