A SWAT team from the Bradley County Sheriff's Office is in the woods off Benton Pike hunting for an man wanted for assault, authorities said.

David Jason Goode, 29, had an encounter with the sheriff's office on Thursday that led to a warrant against him on two counts of aggravated assault, sheriff's office spokesman Bob Gault said in a news release tonight.

Goode was at a home on Benton Pike on Sunday afternoon but was gone when deputies got there, Gault said. He returned after the deputies left and then ran into the woods when officers began hunting him.

Gault said Goode may be armed and dangerous. He said people in the area of Michigan Avenue Road, Peach Orchard Hill Road, Minnis Road, Benton Pike and the surrounding area should use extra caution and report any suspicious activity.

When last seen, Goode was wearing a sleeveless black T-shirt and checkered shorts.
