FORT BENNING, Ga. - Hundreds of motorcycle riders helped escort a replica of the national Vietnam Memorial wall as it arrived by tractor trailer at Fort Benning, where the wall will spend the next five years on display at the National Infantry Museum.

The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reports Harris County Sheriff Mike Jolley said more than 1,000 motorcyclists took part in the wall's arrival Sunday.

A dedication ceremony is scheduled for later this month after the wall replica is set up on a 2-acre site outside the Army museum.

Though smaller than the actual Vietnam Memorial in Washington, the replica still stands 8 feet high and measures 240 feet long. Its surface is inscribed with the names of more than 58,000 military service members who died or were declared missing in Vietnam.
