New court date scheduled for Texas man arrested in 1997 murder in Chattanooga

A 44-year-old man arrested recently in connection with his then-wife's murder in 1997 has a new court date set here.

Aldolphus Hollingsworth as been appointed Assistant District Public Defender Mary Ann Green to represent him. The hearing scheduled today was moved to March 31. There are six motions to be argued, one of which is a request for bond.

Hollingsworth is being held in jail custody as he awaits the hearing.

New charges allege Hollingsworth is responsible for the death of his then-wife, Victoria Witherspoon Carr. She died in 1997.

Carr had accused Hollingsworth of domestic violence prior to her death. Police questioned him and considered him a suspect.

Recent work by the Chattanooga Police Department with the TNT television series "Cold Justice" led to new information and the January arrest.
